It's the global warming scare leak! *gasp* It's actually not true. There was someone who hacked in to a climate science building's computer system. and this hacking reveals a trail of e-mails on how they want to force people in believe there dream and skemes and the proof that it wasn't real. What do you all think of this?
Erm. I think you oversimplified the case a bit, though what you say was true; a group hacked into the system of one of the main laboratories that collects data about climate change, and published thousands of emails. In these emails there were several that talked about making the data look like global warming was being caused by human action.
I have mixed feelings on it. I do think humans can do pretty nasty damage to the environment. Look at oil spills, toxic waste dumped into rivers and oceans, etc. However, I've always been a bit skeptical of global warming and it's affects. There's plenty of proof that climate can change in pretty drastic ways all without help from us. And I'm saddened, but not surprised, that these supposed "scientists" would fudge their data. It pays their bills after all. I love what science can do for us. It's made our lives much better ones. But they are still human, with human problems and concerns. Some are bound to forgoe principles for immediate gain.
Thank you, exactly...!
Yeah, science is a very good thing until fucking corrupted scientists who shouldn't even be in the field interfeer!
agree with post two.
It's not even necessarily the scientists. It's the whole system, the sponsors want a certain outcome (just look at all the medical studies that highlight the benefit of drug "x", usually sponsorred by the makers of said drug). It is hard to insure neutrality and, yet, that is what we must do. Science shuld be about fcts and conclusions from these facts, nothing else, and the conclusions drawn must be transparent and, ideally confirmed or collaborated by a completely independent review of the data.
We can't just fudge global warming and claim it doesn't exist because someone wanted to exagerate its effects, we do so at the risk of seeing quite a few countries disappear under the ocean in the very recent future.
And it stands to reason, we're pumpking oil from the ground and burning it up by thousands and thousands of tons every day. Of course that has an effect on the planet, it is inevitable. To what degree or how is something it is hard to tell because the planet's systems are so complex we do not fully understand them. Not to mention there are fluctuations on the sun that may increase or decrease these effects.
The icecap melting around the poles is huge, accellerating and impossible to dispute, we can argue over what is causing it but we need to take a serious look at what we're doing. If the factor is outside of the planet there's nothing we can do about it, but chances are we are partly or wholly responsible, and that we must do something about.
In any case the oil will run out. It is not a renewable resource and it takes millions of years to "form". We can argue all dcade about whether it'll run out in 2020 or 2050 or 2100, or how much it'll cost in 5 years ot 10, but fact remains, oil wells will dry up, new fields will only be found further and further into the ocean and more and more expensive to drill for. Hence an organized and widespread push towards alternative energy sources is in everyone's best interest, even if the global climate change is disregarded.
Completely agree with Wildebrew on this one. Look at all the nonsense that the mainstream media and groups spout about tobacco while trying to push their nicotine products? Same deal. That said, I firmly believe that yes, global warming does exist, and we need to do something about it before it's too late. Everything else that I might say has already been included in the last post.
